It ain't Snowmageddon, but...

...we finally have our first significant snowfall at Shangri La for 2012! By significant, I mean measurable. By measurable, I mean plowable. By plowable, I mean that I got to ride the quad around the property at 15-20 mph while pushing fluffy white powder!

That is all. Well, except for this picture...

How it all started...

In February of 2009 we took possession of a house on 10+ acres in the small town of Ocqueoc, MI. The house belonged to Shelly's folks, who purchased it from a close family friend who lived in the house until he passed away in 2007.

The house was structurally and functionally sound, but there was MUCH cleanup and updating to be done. Words can't do it all justice, so we've also been posting before/after pictures of our progress. These are for us as much as for you. We trend towards impatience, and it does us good to occasionally go back and look at where we started, to help us to better appreciate what we've accomplished.

With my employer's surprise announcement of the availability of a position in Michigan, we made the decision to move from our 15 year home in Ohio to our little piece of paradise in northern Michigan...lovingly named Shangri La.

Okay...when we originally named our future homestead it was seriously tongue in cheek, but it's slowly moving closer to resembling its title. We'll eventually get it there, and we'll document our journey here.
